RIPEC’s 2012-2013 work plan will continue to focus, at its core, on monitoring and analyzing how state and local governments raise and spend their revenues. At the same time, RIPEC will examine the continuum of government and economic activity in the state that affects resources and expenditures. In keeping with RIPEC’s charge to provide stakeholders and policy-makers with objective and timely information, foundational reports will be developed and used as a springboard for timely reports and briefs on issues of importance. To that end, RIPEC has identified the following areas of focus for its 2012-2013 work plan: state and local fiscal policy; education and workforce development; and economic development and the business climate.
