RIPEC's 73rd Annual Meeting: Keynote Address Delivered by Mark Zandi of Moody's Analytics

PROVIDENCE R.I. (October 2016) - The Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council held its 73rd Annual Meeting on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Dr. Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, delivered the keynote address.  A copy of Dr. Zandi’s presentation will be available on RIPEC’s website. Attendees also heard remarks from Chairman of the House Committee on Finance Marvin L. Abney and Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed.
 
As part of the evening's events, RIPEC honored this year's public service award recipients, Joanna L’Heureux, Finance Director for the City of Pawtucket, and Steven J. King, Managing Director of the Quonset Development Corporation. Paula Twidale, Chair of the Public Service Award Selection Committee said, "Both of this year's distinguished award recipients have superior records of integrity and dedication to public service, and we are proud to honor them as part of this year's annual meeting."
 
The Board of Directors and Trustees also approved the organization's operating program for the next two years. The program will focus on three key areas: economic development and the business climate; education and workforce development; and state and local fiscal policy.
 
Council officers, directors and trustees were also elected at the evening's event:
 
Officer Elections: Robert A. DiMuccio, Chairman, President and CEO of AMICA, was reelected RIPEC's President; James H. Hahn, Partner, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP, was reelected Secretary; and Christopher Jackson, Tax Partner, Ernst & Young LLP, was elected Treasurer.
 
Newly-elected Directors: Tia Bush, Vice President of Operations, Amgen (to complete Anthony Pankau’s term); Malcolm Griggs, Chief Risk Officer, Citizens Bank (to complete Robert L. Nelson’s term); Benjamin B. Howe, CFO, Seapower Capability Systems, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (to complete P. Kevin Peppe’s term); Christopher Jackson, Tax Partner, Ernst & Young LLC (to complete Sean Lynch’s term); John T. Ruggieri, Senior Vice President and CFO, Gilbane; and Sam Solomon, CFO, Rhode Island School of Design (to complete Jean Eddy’s term).
